Magath explains decision to leave Belfodil out of his squad

Felix Magath has explained why Ishak Belfodil wasn't included in Hertha's squad for yesterday's match against Augsburg.

"The reason is that we hadn't been where we should be in terms of fighting spirit in recent games," said Magath after Hertha's 1-0 win yesterday.
"Belfodil is a player, who doesn't put fighting spirit in the foreground, but who uses his technical ability to find solutions on the pitch."
After their vital 1-0 win over relegation rivals Augsburg, Hertha have another six-pointer coming up next week, as they take on Stuttgart at home. Whether Belfodil will be back in the squad for that game is currently unclear.
"This was a measure that applied to this game. All players, who are part of the squad, can always recommend themselves in training," noted Magath.
