RB Leipzig defender Benjamin Henrichs has admitted he considered a move away from the club earlier in the season.

Henrichs struggled to nail down a starting berth under now former Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch and eventually started to doubt whether he had a future at the club.

"I admit that I was already thinking about a change during that time. I held discussions with my family about how things could continue," Henrichs told Sport Bild.

However, when Marsch was relieved of his duties and replaced by Domenico Tedesco in December, Henrichs' situation immediately improved for the better.

"Domenico Tedesco's arrival turned the situation around. Of course, I feel better now because I'm important for the team again," said Henrichs.

"He gives me more chances. I have the feeling that I'm repaying his faith more and more with every performance, even if I still think I can do better.

Henrichs, 25, has featured a total of 30 times for Leipzig with three goals and three assists to his name this season.
