Mangala linked with Atletico Madrid
VfB Stuttgart midfielder Orel Mangala is said to have caught the eye of Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid have reportedly emerged as suitors for VfB Stuttgart midfielder Orel Mangala.
According to Spanish publication AS, Atletico scouts have watched Mangala on several occasions, with sporting director Andreas Berta said to be impressed with the 24-year-old midfielder's strengths.
Mangala, who is under contract with Stuttgart until 2024, has been linked with a move away from Stuttgart.
"In the summer it may indeed be time for a change of air," he was quoted as saying by Flemish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad last month.
"It's true that the biggest clubs in Europe have me on their radar, but I can't mention any names. I can only say that I am looking for a nice sporting project. I want to go to a club where I can develop."
However, Mangala and his agent, Mehmet Eser, later denied the quotes. Eser told Bild:
"It's all lies. Orel feels comfortable at VfB. In addition, he still has a two-year contract. We respect that."
