There is no chance that Robert Lewandowski will leave Bayern in the summer, says Hasan Salihamidzic.

Bayern München board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic has dismissed speculation that Robert Lewandowski could leave the club in the summer.

Lewandowski is out of contract in 2023 and fuelled speculation about his future last night when he refused to answer the question of whether he wants to stay at the club or not.

But Salihamidzic has now made it clear once and for all that the 33-year-old will definitely remain with the newly-crowned German champions until 2023 at least.

"I definitely rule out Lewandowski leaving the club in the summer," Salihamidzic said in an interview with Sky today.

"We will hold talks, then we will see how things develop. He has a contract until 2023. What happens after that is not yet certain."

Asked if Bayern want to keep the Polish star striker, Salihamidzic responded:

"Of course. Lewandowski is highly appreciated. The fans love him. But he's the top earner at the club. We also have to look at our financial possibilities and how much money we have.

"I spoke with Lewa. We'll also talk to his agent. He has a contract until 2023. We have all the time in the world. We have the best striker in the world and we're proud of that. We haven't negotiated yet. But that's what we'll do now," emphasized Salihamidzic.
