Kevin Kampl has put pen to paper on a new contract with RB Leipzig, the Bundesliga outfit have confirmed.

The 31-year-old midfielder's deal, which was due to expire at the end of the season, has been extended by a further year, until 2024.

“RB Leipzig is my club, Leipzig is my city and it’s been a second home for me and my family for a long time now," commented Kampl, who joined Leipzig from Bayer Leverkusen five years ago.

"I've had a great and successful time here since 2017, and I'm proud to be staying here as we continue to write more history. We've now got a massive game coming up with our third Pokal final in Berlin and we want to bring the trophy back to Leipzig this time.

"Our fans deserve it. Being able to announce my new contract before the final is even nicer and shows that we’re going to continue this journey together!"

Kampl has featured 39 times for Leipzig through the 2021/22, notching up one assist.
