The local Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung reports that Germany's green company team may be on the verge of a solution to the problem of disaffected central defender Marin Pongracic.

It has long been clear that Croatian defender Marin Pongracic no longer had a place in the squad planning of VfL Wolfsburg trainer Niko Kovac. The recently returned Dortmund loanee never stood much of a chance of reestablishing himself within the team. The 24-year-old hasn't even made the bench squad in any of the team's three competitive fixtures thus far during this campaign.

The local Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung now reports that newly-promoted Italian Serie A side U.S. Leece are interested in taking the former RB Salzburg player on. Wolfsburg brought Pongracic in from Austria for €9 million during the January 2020 transfer window. The center-halve's current estimated market value stands at €6 million in the latest transfermarkt listings.

The paper quotes VfL sporting CEO Jörg Schmadtke as saying that the German club are in "constructive talks" with the Serie A side. Whether Pongracic will depart via another loan or an outright sale remains unclear at this time. The Croatian's current contract with "die Wölfe" runs through 2024.
