According to Germany's preeminent footballing publication, VfB Stuttgart were strongly considering acquiring the former FC Midtjylland center-forward as a replacement for the departed Sasa Kalajdzic. FC Augsburg, despite having already procured some additional attacking assistance late in the transfer window, nevertheless briefly flirted with the notion as well.
Kicker reports that Dovbyk's Ukrainian maintains too high an asking price for the €5-million-valued attacker. Dnipro paid Midtjylland €430,000 to obtain him during the January 2020 transfer window.
