Schalke 04 1-2 Borussia Dortmund: Reactions to the Revierderby
Jadon Sancho scored the winner as Borussia Dortmund won 2-1 over local rivals Schalke 04 in the 177th Revierderby on Saturday. Here are the reactions to the game.

"It was a very difficult match for us, particularly in the first period. Schalke were very well organised and did their pressing and counter-pressing well. We didn't have enough possession, didn't create enough chances and only opened the scoring following a free-kick.
"I can't comment on the penalty that made it 1-1 yet because I still haven't seen the incident. If it was the right decision, then we completely accept that. But the team stayed in the game. I liked that. We continued to play football and played even better, we had more possession and more goalscoring chances. It was important that we kept our cool. We ultimately deserved to win the game. We had more possession, more opportunities to score, but it's always difficult to play against such teams (bvb.de).
Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund captain:
"I think we deserved the win. We dominated the game over 90 minutes. We also made mistakes. But we have to focus on what the coach tells us. We trust in that (Sky).
Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund:
"This goal was for my grandmother who recently passed away. It was for my family" (Sport1).
Domenico Tedesco, Schalke 04 coach:
"Well done to Dortmund. We started the game well enough and had some control – but then we were suddenly behind. We should have defended both of their goals much better. We had more possession in the first half and had a decent pass completion rate. Our biggest problem at the moment is our lack of cutting edge" (s04.de).
Ralf Fährmann, Schalke 04 captain:
"The derby had a lot to offer. I’m disappointed that they scored one more goal than us. The rest of the team are equally saddened by the result. It’s quite hard to be missing so many strikers. That’s no excuse, but we are missing several important offensive players. I think that we did well with we had available to us today. I’m certain that we come out of this phase a lot stronger" (s04.de)
Daniel Caligiuri, Schalke 04:
After we equalised, I believed that we could get another and turn the game around. We showed the right mentality, even after conceding early in the first half. We already knew that Dortmund are strong on the counter. Their winning goal was so frustrating, especially as they won the ball from one of our tackles. Those kinds of things can just happen" (s04.de).
