Former TSG 1899 Hofenheim trainer Alfred Schreuder has officially ruled out a return to the Bundesliga in the form of a potential head-coaching position at VfB Stuttgart. The man who lead Germany's Kraichgauer to 2020/21 Europa League qualification declared himself satisfied with his current appointment with Dutch record champions Ajax Amsterdam.

In an interview with Holland's NOS, the 49-year-old explicitly denied that he was interested in coaching the Swabians. Schreuder's self-exclusion leaves former FC Copenhagen gaffer Jess Thorup as the only other candidate linked with the job.

Current reports circulating in the German media suggest that the VfB may wish to keep current interim coach Michael Wimmer in charge through the rest of league play in the current calendar year and take their time searching for a new permanent appointment.
