With his brace in Bayern München's 3-2 victory over Hertha BSC yesterday, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has now found the net nine times in his last seven games.

After starting out the season as a substitute, the veteran forward has emerged as an indispensable part of Bayern München's starting eleven, head coach Julian Nagelsmann stated in an interview with Sport1 after the game.

"If he stays fit, he definitely is. He scores a lot of goals and is important for our possession," said Nagelsmann.

"He scored two goals today, which you don't always do. You have to be in the right place when the ball drops. He proved the striker gene today."

Choupo-Moting was asked about his expiring contract with the German champions.

"I'm just focusing on FC Bayern and on the here and now. I'm happy. I still have a year left on my contract, I'm very happy and could of course imagine staying longer," Choupo-Moting told Sky.
