Today, Eintracht Frankfurt have announced that Gelson Fernandes has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club that runs until 2020.

Speaking at a press conference today, Fernandes revealed he could have left 'Die Adler' last summer, but he opted to stay.

"I'm very happy here in Frankfurt. My family feel happy, we all feel at home at Eintracht, so there was no reason to leave the club," he said according to the club and added:

"Of course there are always some enquiries from other clubs, as there were last summer. But I've always felt I want to achieve more here at Frankfurt."

Gelson Fernandes, 32, has been a first team regular under Adi Hütter this season and has made 17 appearances with one goal so far.
