According to Fußball Transfers, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has been offered on loan to Olympique Lyon.

The Ligue 1 club is still looking for attacking reinforcements but wants to wait for the remaining weeks of the transfer window to complete.

A major hurdle for the financially struggling club is the 29-year-old's high salary.

With his annual salary of €10million, Werner is one of Leipzig's top earners and his lavish salary has already deterred several potential suitors.

In addition to Lyon, Stade Rennais in France is also interested in the 57-cap Germany international.

Leipzig's sister club, the New York Red Bulls, also has Werner on its list, but is offering a highly performance-based contract.
