Report: Schalke keen to obtain Union attacker Skarke on loan

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that FC Schalke 04 might pluck some additional attacking assistance off 1. FC Union Berlin in the form of a loan-out of Tim Skarke.
One of the targeted attacker picked up by 1. FC Union Berlin this summer on a free hasn't been able wriggle his way into Union trainer Urs Fischer's plans thus far this season. Tim Skarke has logged just 104 minutes in six appearances across all competitions for Berlin's Köpenick club. Germany's Sport Bild reports that the 26-year-old 2. Bundesliga veteran may get a better to prove himself in the top flight this season.

The German tabloid notes that FC Schalke 04 are interested in bringing him in on loan. The report further notes that acting S04 sporting director Peter Knäbel has been in contact with Union about a deal that would include a purchase option, valid for both the first and second German division if possible.

In three seasons spent playing for second tier side SV Darmstadt 98, Skarke certainly made the case for a chance at a higher level. The Heidenheim-native scored 12 goals and chipped in a further eight assists in 81 appearances for the "Lillies". The attacker generally plays on the right wing, but can work on the opposite flank or as a center-forward as well.
