Since departing RB Leipzig in the January 2020 transfer window, Diego Demme has had his ups-and-downs for S.S.C. Napoli in Italy's Serie A. At present, the 31-year-old is reportedly unhappy with his current role in southern Italy, having made just three meaningless relief appearances for I Partenopei in the league this year.

Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà reports that the Serie A side is open to offloading Demme, for whom they paid approximately €10,25 million for in 2020, for approximately half that amount if an interested party can be found. A loan deal for Demme is also conceivable, provided the loan club assumes full responsibility foe Demme's salary.

Pedullà reports that three Bundesliga sides are considering bringing the Herford-native back to his native country. VfB Stuttgart and Bayer 04 Leverkusen are said to be interested whilst a third club goes unnamed. The former Bielefeld, Paderborn, and Leipzig professional has made a cumulative total of 257 appearances in Germany's top three professional footballing flights.

The mixed-heritage Demme made one appearance for the German national team in 2017. Demme himself pushed for the transfer to Napoli three years ago in order to play football in the land of his father for his father's favorite club.
