Nkunku set to miss Bundesliga restart

Multiple reports claim that Christopher Nkunku will miss the Bundesliga restart through injury.
RB Leipzig will be without their biggest star when they face German champions Bayern Munich in the first Bundesliga game of 2023 on January 20.

According to Bild and Leipziger Volkszeitung, the clash with Bayern comes too soon for the Frenchman, who suffered a knee injury just before the World Cup.

Nkunku is still undergoing rehabilitation in Paris and will not be travelling to Leipzig's training camp in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Peter Gulacsi will also miss the trip. The Hungarian goalkeeper is sidelined with a cruciate ligament rupture and recently had to undergo another minor operation due to bacteria in his knee.

On the bright side for Leipzig, Timo Werner (syndesmosis tear) and David Raum (ankle injury) will both be on the plane tomorrow and will continue their recovery in Abu Dhabi.

Josko Gvardiol gets a week of special leave because he made it to the World Cup semi-finals with Croatia and will link up with his teammates on January 8.
