Report: Schmadtke slams door shut on Stuttgart's pursuit of Guilavogui

According to a report appearing today in the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, VfL sporting CEO Jörg Schmadtke has officially ruled out moving Joshua Guilavogui during the current transfer window.

VfB Stuttgart's courtship of former VfL Wolfsburg captain Joshua Guilavogui is reportedly officially over. New Stuttgart trainer Bruno Labbadia had considered the midfielder he once anointed skipper a perfect fit for his re-envisioned midfield. Amid reports that Stuttgart wished to acquire the 32-year-old on a free transfer, however, soon-to-depart Wolfsburg personnel boss Jörg Schmadtke was not receptive to the move.

Schmadtke went so far as to suggest that Stuttgart were deliberately leaking information to the press in order to depress Guilavogui's value. The veteran German footballing administrator initially didn't rule out a transfer, but groused that Stuttgart were talking to the German footballing media instead of him. Such a grievance isn't uncommon from the seasoned managing director.

The Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, with whom Schmadtke initially aired this grievance, now cites internal sources to claim that Schmadtke will not be entertaining any offers at all. According to a report appearing today, Schmadtke and the front office believe Guilavogui to be essential to their sporting goals this season. Schmadtke, it is noted, won't be moved on the matter.
