After heavily courting the Indonesian international this past summer, Borussia Mönchengladbach should be able to complete a deal for 28-year-old former Dutch youth international Kevin Diks during the coming winter transfer window. The Westphalian foals appear to be taking a proactive approach to keeping the defensive ranks stocked ahead of potential departures for Ko Itakura, Marvin Friedrich, and Nico Elvedi.
Diks has pumped up his estimated market worth to a career high of €4.5 million following an eminently successful season for FC Copenhagen in which he's worked as a central defender, right-back, and left-back. He scored nine goals and provided three assists in 32 appearances across all competitions for the Danish capital city side this past year. Sky Germany reports that Gladbach are in "advanced negotiations".
Sitting on an expiring contract, Diks can either move to Gladbach on a free transfer next summer or move to the Bundesliga for a fee next month. Diks' contract status means that the German club can complete the free transfer in January. Copenhagen will obviously seek to cash in on their player before allowing him to depart without compensation.
