Vincenzo Grifo reiterates his desire to play in Italy one day, but also says he's not thinking about a move away from Freiburg at the moment.

Born in Germany to Italian parents, Grifo has played for Italy since 2018, scoring four goals in eight matches.

However, he has never actually played in the Serie A. That might change in the future, but at the moment, he's not interested in leaving Freiburg.

"I keep a close eye on Italy and the Serie A, and of course I get a lot of information about the league from the national team. The dream is alive," Grifo confirmed in an interview with Kicker, but added:

"It's not an issue at the moment."

Asked what could make him leave Freiburg, Grifo replied:

"That will be difficult, because I know what I have at SC. Even more so because I've already been to Dresden, FSV Frankfurt, Hoffenheim and Gladbach, where things weren't always great."

The 29-year-old has been in excellent form this season, racking up 11 goals and three assists in 21 games for Freiburg. According to himself, he's never been better.

"I have played the best six months of my career," said Grifo and continued:

"I feel incredibly fit, I've never scored nine league goals in the first half of the season, it's been an awesome season so far. Now it's a question of confirming it. I'm curious myself if I can do that because it won't be easy at all."
