Farke provides injury update on Thuram

Gladbach coach Daniel Farke has given an injury update on Marcus Thuram ahead of Sunday's clash with Bayer Leverkusen. At the same press conference, sporting director Roland Virkus said that the club want to keep the Frenchman and Ramy Bensebaini this month.
Borussia Mönchengladbach are sweating over the fitness of Marcus Thuram ahead of their Bundesliga clash with Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.

"There's a question mark over Marcus Thuram's availability. He hasn't trained with the team yet this week, so it will depend on whether he's pain-free, and that will become clear tomorrow," Gladbach coach Daniel Farke told reporters today.

"We hope that 'Tikus' is an option for Sunday, but we have good alternatives. Nathan Ngoumou has played up top during our preparation and has qualities we might well need. Lars Stindl is also familiar with that role."

With just six months left on his contract, Thuram has been linked with a move away from Gladbach. The same goes for Ramy Bensebaini, whose contract also expires at the end of the season.

But despite the risk of losing the duo for free in the summer, Gladbach have no intention of selling them this month.

Sitting next to Farke at today's press conference, sporting director Roland Virkus explained:

As of today, both Marcus Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini will stay at Borussia Mönchengladbach. This also means that we want to persuade both of them to stay with us beyond the season. We will try everything to do that."
