Report: Schalke set to acquire Colombian midfielder
Cesar Lúis Merlo of Argentina's TyC Sports reports that FC Schalke 04 are about to secure the services of Colombian defensive midfielder Eder Balanta on a six-month loan.
Former FC Basel and current Club Brugge midfielder will spend the second half of the Bundesliga campaign in Gelsenkirchen, according to one journalist. Cesar Lúis Merlo of Argentina's TyC Sports reports that the 29-year-old eight-times-capped international will be loaned out to the Bundesliga's last-placed club for the next six months.
The Bogota-native spent three years playing in Switzerland before moving to Belgium in September of 2019. Balanta made 15 appearances for Brugge across all competitions this season, mostly in relief. Thrice he received a starting nod. He hasn't featured in the team's matchday squad over the last three weeks.
