Stuttgart confirm loss of lead striker Guirassy for "several weeks"

Relegation-threatened VfB Stuttgart have confirmed the loss of lead striker and leading goal-scorer Serhou Guirassy for several weeks.
The news gets grimmer for relegation candidates VfB Stuttgart. Lead striker Serhou Guirassy - substituted off during the first half of Sunday's 0-2 loss to SV Werder Bremen - has torn a tendon in his adductor area and will be "out for several weeks". Although the club did not give a more specific forecast of the 26-year-old's downtime, one can probably assume that the team's leading goal-scorer will be out for at least a month.

Brought in as a transfer deadline day replacement for the departed Sasa Kalajdzic this past autumn, Guirassy was supposed to be the man most responsible for helping the relegation-threatened side score goals and earn points. Thus far he's netted six league tallies and scored eight goals and registered one assist in 15 appearances for Stuttgart across all competitions.

No one else on the Stuttgart roster come close to Guirassy's production numbers. Squad captain Wataru Endo and Chris Führich have three league goals apiece. The injured Tiago Tomas and the departed Naouirou Ahamada both have two. Still injured "Silas" has three. The oft-injured Konstantinos Mavropanos also has two.
