Frankfurt updates: Marmoush an SGE candidate, Skhiri comments on transfer rumors

German broadcaster "Sport1" reports that Eintracht Frankfurt have added their name to the list of courters for soon-to-be out-of-contract VfL Wolfsburg attacker Omar Marmoush.

In other transfer-related Eintracht news, Köln midfielder Ellyes Skhiri publicly commented on reports linking him with SGE in an interview with France's preeminent sporting publication.

With a contract extension at VfL Wolfsburg looking unlikely for quite some time, there remain several clubs interested in acquiring Egyptian attacker Omar Marmoush on a free after the season. Within the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach have already been linked with the 15-times-capped international. London's Brentford FC were also often reported to be interested, but probably have no more need for the 24-year-old after picking up Freiburg's Kevin Schade.

Germany's "Sport1" claims that Eintracht Frankfurt, who will be looking to restock on a budget this offseason, are giving Marmoush a look. Reported upon salary demands from Marmoush and his representatives may nevertheless prove problematic. Marmoush could also still re-sign with the northern Autostädter. His reported salary demands were too much for the managerial regime of outgoing personnel boss Jörg Schmadtke, but the new club administrative structure may be able to work something out.

In other transfer-related news pertinent to Eintracht Frankfurt, Köln midfielder Ellyes Skhiri was asked about rumors linking him with the SGE in an interview with France's “L’Équipe”. The Tunisian international actually denied that there had been any "concrete talks" with the Rhein-Main Eagles, but did seem to indicate that he would very much be open to a move to Hessen.

"Naturally, I respect Frankfurt," Skhiri said, "One can see what great progress they've made over the last two years. It's clear that I'm leaving. Frankfurt are playing well and it could be a good project. I feel very comfortable here in Germany. I like life here and I really like the Bundesliga. It's fun to play here."
