With six scorer-points in 27 Erdevisie appearances this season, flexible Mexican defender Edson Alvarez will surely attract a great deal of interest in the summer transfer market. The 25-year-old has now pumped up his estimated market value to a career-high €35 million. Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid reports that the 61-times-capped international is currently in the focus of German record champions FC Bayern München.

For the player himself, the Ajax-to-Bayern pipeline itself may serve as a detriment toward the consideration of a transfer. Alvarez's former teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui both joined Bayern on frees last season and are both notably dissatisfied with their lack of playing time for the record champions.

The midfielder/centerback nevertheless does fit the profile of the sort of player FCB trainer typically likes to build around. Bayern are expected to spend lavishly at all positions in the coming offseason, picking up four to five players with estimated market values at or around Alvarez's price-range. Alvarez was linked with a move to Leipzig last summer.
