Reis prepared to give Jenz a cold-start against Frankfurt
FC Schalke 04 head-coach Thomas Reis confirmed that, for the first time in nearly a month, defender Moritz Jenz will be fit enough to start in the coming weekend encounter.
Often talismanic central defender Moritz Jenz will once again be available to Schalke 04 trainer Thomas Reis this weekend as his relegation-threatened side prepare to host Eintracht Frankfurt in their final home match of the 2022/23 campaign. Reis confirmed this information at his Friday presser, also strongly suggesting that Jenz would feature in his starting XI.
"It looks like he will be involved," the S04 trainer said of Jenz, "There would be nothing against letting him play from the start. He's definitely fit."
Jenz's one-time ironclad partner Maya Yoshida is also fit enough to start, but (unexpectedly) faces fierce competition from Marcin Kaminski and the recently returned Sepp van den Berg. Reis must already do without two of his starters from last week.
Left-back Jere Uronen, Reis confirmed, is unavailable due to muscular complaints. Left-winger Marius Bülter, the squad's leading scorer, must sit out on a yellow-accumulation suspension.
Reis seemed to suggest that Tim Skarke would be the one to replace Bülter, but left the door open for Dominik Drexler and potentially Rodrigo Zalazar as well.
Mutig, clever und konzentriert agieren und mit einem Heimsieg eine gute Ausgangsposition für den 34. Spieltag schaffen. So geht #S04-Chef-Trainer Thomas Reis in das morgige Heimspiel.
