Romano reported this morning that Szoboszlai is a "top target" for Liverpool and that "concrete" talks are taking place between the parties.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool "appear to have been given confidence" that a deal to bring Szoboszlai to Anfield will be possible after the deal initially looked difficult to pull off.
With Fabio Carvalho set to complete a loan move from Liverpool to RB Leipzig today, the two clubs are already in dialogue.
As Szoboszlai still has three years left on his contract with Leipzig, the Bundesliga outfit will be in a strong negotiating position if his release clause expires.
However, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has made it clear that he's ready to move on, and that will surely play a part in Leipzig's considerations.
"If I can now take a step towards the five or six best clubs in Europe, should I say no to this challenge? I've never been like that," Szoboszlai told Hungarian publication Index.hu about a month ago.
"I am in a very good position because I play for a fantastic club. But I don't want to look back on my career in fifteen years as if I didn't make the most of it."
