Hainer backs Tuchel to turn things around

Herbert Hainer has backed Thomas Tuchel to stay on as Bayern coach and lead the team out of their slump.
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has backed under-fire head coach Thomas Tuchel to get the team out of their current slump.

Tuchel has come under increasing scrutiny after back-to-back defeats to Bayer Leverkusen and Lazio, but Hainer is confident the 50-year-old can turn things around.

"Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff are working meticulously and with dedication. And the team has already shown what it can do this season," Hainer said in an interview with TZ.

"Of course, we're missing results at the moment. We need a spark to change things on the pitch. We are all working on it together and I am convinced that we can do it."

When asked what makes him optimistic that the team will be able to overcome their recent struggles, Hainer replied:

"The individual quality of the team is well known. Every single player has proven his class often enough. At the moment we're lacking ease and confidence, I agree with you. But I spoke to the players after the game and it is very clear that we want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible."

Bayern face Bochum on Sunday.
