Hamburger SV are searching for a new head coach after sacking Steffen Baumgart on Sunday.

According to Sky Germany, former Hamburger SV striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is one of several options being considered.

The report claims that the 2. Bundesliga outfit were in talks with the Dutchman prior to Baumgart's appointment in February.

Van Nistelrooy recently left Manchester United, where he worked as an assistant coach under Erik ten Hag.

When ten Hag was sacked, van Nistelrooy spent four games as caretaker coach. He left when Ruben Amorim took over.

The former Netherlands international, 48, was PSV head coach for the 2022-23 season.
