Bayern Munich continued their impressive form in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 win over Augsburg on Friday, extending their lead over RB Leipzig to eight points ahead of the rest of this weekend's fixtures.

Facing a well-organized, deep-lying Augsburg side, Bayern had to fight hard for victory, but eventually broke the deadlock from the penalty spot just after the hour mark before adding two goals in stoppage time.

After the final whistle, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany praised his players for winning a difficult game, but also pointed out that there's always room for improvement.

“It’s normal for it not to be easy – after all it’s a Bundesliga game. We had 33 attempts at goal and very often found ourselves inside their box. But we remained patient and continued to show that we wanted to score goals," said Kompany, who saw his team score two times from the penalty spot.

“When you’re in the penalty area as often as we were, it’s normal that there will be a penalty given at some point. I’m never satisfied because I want us to always be improving. I know how important the win was tonight, and I can really appreciate it.”
