Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes has reiterated that he's optimistic Xabi Alonso will stay on as coach, despite reported interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

"I remain calm and optimistic. The most important thing with coaches is that they feel comfortable and have the feeling that they are in the right place," Rolfes said in an interview with Frankfurter Rundschau.

He added that the Spaniard knows what he has at Leverkusen.

"He has often said that. That's how he works every day with his team and his coaching staff.

"There are many subjunctives in the world. Not all of them have to happen," said Rolfes.

According to Sky Germany, Xabi Alonso is open to the possibility of joining Bayern, with Leverkusen expected to demand €15-25 million for him this summer should he want to leave.
