Werder Bremen have confirmed that Nick Woltemade will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old striker informed the club of his decision on Tuesday afternoon. According to Sky Germany, he's heading to VfB Stuttgart.

"We really regret the fact that Nick has chosen to leave Werder," said Werder head of professional football Clemens Fritz.

"We put a really good offer on the table and explained our plans for him at Werder Bremen. He’s also received considerably more minutes in recent weeks, which was an important factor in his decision.

"It’s a great shame that he’s departing the club, but we obviously accept Nick’s decision."
