Brandt: Germany have more one-on-one players today

Julian Brandt feels there are more one-on-one players in the German national team now than there used to be.
Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt says the players of the new generation of German football are different to the players who won the World Cup in 2014.

'Die Mannschaft' triumphed in Brazil with a possession-based philosophy, but Brandt believes the current squad is better suited for a playing style with more emphasis on individual qualities.

"The players who won the World Cup and the current generation are different. At the moment, there are more players who belong in the one-on-one category. That will do us good in the future. Football is moving in that direction. Possession football isn't as much of a trend as it used to be. The creative guys are doing us good," Brandt said at a press conference today.

Brandt and Germany take on Serbia in a friendly on Wednesday before facing the Netherlands in a European Championship qualifier on Sunday.
