Bundesliga team of the week – Matchday 31 (4-4-2):


Goalkeeper: Christian Mathenia, FC Nürnberg (2)
Made a number of great saves to help Nürnberg to a surprising point against Bayern München.

Right-back: Daniel Caligiuri, Schalke 04 (3)
Schalke's derby hero! The right-back netted twice - with one of the goals coming from a direct free-kick - in the dramatic 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Centre-back: Salif Sané, Schalke 04 (4)
Put in an outstanding performance. Gave Schalke a 2-1 lead as he scored after a corner, won 70 percent of his duels and hit his teammates with 90 percent of his passes.

Centre-back: Jonathan Tah, Bayer Leverkusen (2)
Rock solid defensively in Bayer Leverkusen's convincing 4-1 win over Augsburg. Also scored a goal.

Left-back: William, VfL Wolfsburg
Had an outstanding game against Hoffenheim. The Brazilian full-back scored, made an assist and won 70 percent of his duels.


Right midfielder: Kai Havertz, Bayer Leverkusen (5)
Oozed class and scored an audacious goal in Leverkusen's victory over Augsburg.

Central midfielder: Kevin Stöger, Fortuna Düsseldorf (2)
Once again the linchpin in Fortuna's midfield in their impressive 4-1 win over Werder Bremen. Stöger was the player with the most touches on the ball, covered the most distance and was involved in almost every attack.

Central midfielder: Maximilian Arnold, VfL Wolfsburg (2)
Played an instrumental role in Wolfsburg's 4-1 win victory over Hoffenheim. Never stopped running in midfield, scored a goal and made an assist.

Left midfielder: Kevin Volland, Bayer Leverkusen (2)
Volland scored, made an assist and had a foot in most of Leverkusen's attacks in their 4-1 win over FC Augsburg.

Striker: Kenan Karaman, Fortuna Düsseldorf
Scored a goal of the season contender as he ran from his own half to beat several players before sending the ball past Werder keeper Jiri Pavlenka. He later set up Rouwen Hennings' goal in Fortuna's 4-1 win.

Striker: Wout Weghorst, VfL Wolfsburg (2)
As so many times before this season, the Dutch striker played a decisive role for Wolfsburg as he scored a brace and made an assist in his team's 4-1 win over Hoffenheim.
