Lewandowski: 'It's better to have a second striker'

Robert Lewandowski feels it would be good for Bayern München to sign a back-up striker.
Bayern München star Robert Lewandowski has called for the club to sign a back-up striker in an interview with Kicker.

"It's better to have a second striker. For the team and for me as well," said Lewandowski who played in the striker position in all but two matches for Bayern during the 2018/19 season.

"I would be able to watch the game from the outside and see how the team play without me," he added.

Bayern have announced the signing of 19-year-old striker Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburger SV, but Lewandowski has suggested it would be good if a more finished product came in as well.

"The club know that a new player must be able to help directly. You can't give him two years of time. Something will still come, but I'm not sure what," the Polish international said.

Lewandowski, 30, scored 40 goals in 47 appearances for Bayern in the past season.
