Bild further reports that former Adidas chairman Herbert Hainer, who is already a member of the supervisory board at the club, is set to replace Hoeness.
Hoeness faced boos and whistles at Bayern's annual general meeting at the end of November last year.
Among other things, members voiced their disapproval of Bayern's sponsorship deals with Qatar, the club's criticism of the media as well as Hoeness' angry outbursts directed at former players and coaches.
"I've never experienced anything like this. I hope that it changes again, otherwise it's no longer my FC Bayern. This is something I won't accept. This evening will not pass without leaving its mark," Hoeness said back then, as quoted by AP.
Hoeness - a former Bayern München player - was appointed commercial/general manager of the club in 1979. 30 years later - in November 2009 - he was elected president of Bayern München.
Hoeness was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for tax evasion in March 2014 which led him to resign from his role as president. His prisonment ended at the end of February 2016.
After serving his sentence, Hoeness was re-elected president of the Bavarian club at the end of November 2016.
