Gladbach's strike force got the better of HSV
After three games without a victory, Borussia Mönchengladbach got back to winning ways against Hamburger SV thanks to goals from Thorgan Hazard and Raffael.
Borussia Mönchengladbach got the three points with a 3-1 win after a streak of three winless Bundesliga games when Hamburger SV visited Borussia-Park.
The win means that Gladbach are fourth in the Bundesliga while Hamburger SV are 16th before the rest of the games in this round. Therefore, HSV are sure to spend the Christmas period in the relegation zone.
Gladbach started the match extremely brightly, and after Reece Oxford was unlucky to hit the crossbar in the beginning, Thorgan Hazard made it 1-0 nine minutes into the game when he received a good pass from Raffael, and put in the ball into the net.
As the game progressed, HSV got more into the game, and the away side started particularly well in the second half and got the equaliser after 53 minutes when Andre Hahn was played in behind to equalize against his former club.
The goal seemed to shock Gladbach a bit, but then - out of nowhere - Raffael made it 2-1 with a neat finish at the near post with 74 minutes on the clock.
Five minutes later, Raffael scored his second goal and made it game-over as Hazard was played in behind, went past HSV keeper Christian Mathenia and found the Brazilian across goal. He didn't disappoint and got the 3-1 goal as Gladbach got back to winning ways.
