Nabil Bentaleb to stay at Schalke amid Werder links

Nabil Bentaleb will not be leaving Schalke 04 before the transfer window closes.

    Schalke 04's Nabil Bentaleb has been heavily linked with a move to Werder Bremen, but a transfer is now off the table.

    Speaking to Bild, his team of representatives said:

    "The transfer to Werder is dead. Nabil will stay at Schalke."

    According to Bild, Bentaleb faces a long spell on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery this morning.

    The central midfielder fell out of favor at Veltins-Arena last season due to disciplinary issues. Since joining Schalke from Tottenham for €19 million in 2017, the 24-year-old has made 97 appearances, scoring 19 goals and making nine assists.
