Kevin Trapp: I wanted to stay at PSG

Kevin Trapp reveals he actually wanted to stay at Paris Saint-Germain this season before ultimately re-joining Eintracht Frankfurt.
Kevin Trapp has revealed that he was actually planning to stay at Paris Saint-Germain when he returned to the French capital club after spending last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

"There was a possibility that I could play. The competition with Alphonse [Areola] wasn't new, he didn't bother me, because I wanted to stay at the club. That was my goal," Trapp told Canal Football Club.

However, when Antero Henrique was replaced by Leonardo as PSG's sporting director, Trapp's situation changed, and he ultimately decided to return to Frankfurt on a permanent deal.

"I knew the club had different ideas and was looking for another goalkeeper. That was pretty clear to me. In the end, we agreed that it wold maybe be better if I left," Trapp recalled.

"Disappointment may not be the right word. It's a club with big goals which like me is very ambitious. It's a club where I saw the possibility of achieving my goals," the goalkeeper added before making it clear that he's happy to be back at Frankfurt:

"I'm now at a growing club that I already know very well."
