Reus misses penalty as Dortmund draw with Barcelona

Borussia Dortmund were left to rue missed chances as FC Barcelona held on to a draw at Signal Iduna Park.
Marco Reus had a second-half penalty saved as Borussia Dortmund opened their Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw against FC Barcelona at Signal Iduna Park.

Reus had the biggest chance of a tight and tactical first half, but saw his shot saved by fellow German international Marc-André ter Stegen after 24 minutes.

Shortly after the break, Luis Suarez took a good touch in the penalty area before taking a shot, but the Barcelona striker wasn't able to beat Roman Bürki from a tight angle.

Reus was given another chance to beat ter Stegen with 57 minutes on the clock when Dortmund were awarded a penalty after Jadon Sancho was brought down, but the BVB captain saw his attempt saved by ter Stegen.

Towards the end of the match, Julian Brandt smashed a shot against the bar before Marco Reus came close once more, but still without any luck.

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig took all three points against Benfica as Timo Werner netted twice in a 2-1 win in Portugal.
