Bayern München bosses Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Hasan Salihamidzic say Joshua Kimmich has put himself under pressure to perform with his criticism of the team's performance in Saturday's 3-2 win over Paderborn.

Speaking after the game, Kimmich said that Bayern "didn't do a good job" and that the Bavarians "lacked the dominance" they wanted to have, among other things.

When asked to comment on Kimmich's criticism, Bayern CEO Rummenigge told reporters:

"If you're critical, you have to pick up the flag and hold it up, so everyone can follow suit. You also have to deliver and demand great performances from yourself, of course."

Quite similarly, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said:

"If he expresses criticism, then he must go ahead and put in top performances. If you open your mouth, you have to lead from the front. But I think that's also what he's doing.

"I like players who say they want to take responsibility. 'Josh' is such a player," Salihamidzic said.

The 24-year-old has made 180 appearances for Bayern, racking up 17 goals and 43 assists, since he joined the club from Stuttgart in 2015.
