Official: Julian Weigl seals Benfica move

Julian Weigl has left Borussia Dortmund to join Benfica.
Borussia Dortmund have announced the departure of Julian Weigl.

The 24-year-old makes the move to Benfica with immediate effect on a permanent deal.

"Julian approached us with this wish and we agreed – also because of his service to the club. We wish him all the best for the future," said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc in a statement.

Weigl made a total of 171 appearances for Dortmund, scoring four goals.
