Rummenigge claims Bayern weren't interested in Erling Haaland
Bayern München had no interest in signing Erling Haaland, says club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Bayern München weren't interested in Erling Haaland, according to the club's CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Borussia Dortmund saw off competition from some of Europe's biggest clubs to bring in the 19-year-old from RB Salzburg earlier this month, but Rummenigge insists Bayern weren't part of the race.
"We're not automatically interested in a player, just because Borussia Dortmund or RB Leipzig want him," the Bayern chief said at the sports business industry event SPOBIS 2020 and continued:
"We only sign players in positions where we see a need. I can understand what Dortmund are doing, but it wasn't a topic for us."
Dortmund paid €20 million to sign Haaland who has scored five goals in his first two games for BVB.
