Michael Ballack warns Kai Havertz against Bayern move

Kai Havertz isn't quite ready to play for Bayern München yet, argues Michael Ballack.
Michael Ballack has advised Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz against joining Bayern München at this stage of his career.

Havertz has been linked with a summer move to the German champions, but Ballack doesn't feel the 20-year-old is ready to prove himself at Allianz Arena yet.

"If Bayern still have the ambition to sign the best German players, then Havertz should be brought in. He's an exceptional player. But Havertz needs time. He also needs the robustness to be mentally prepared for FC Bayern," Ballack told Sport1.

"He's still in his development phase and makes mistakes on the pitch. But that's normal. What I can say is that he's in great hands in Leverkusen where he can develop in peace. At FC Bayern, you need other qualities to assert yourself. Just being good is not enough there," the former German international said.

According to reports, Leverkusen would demand as much as €125 million for Havertz.
