Bayern, who were dominant from start to finish, took the lead through an own goal from Mathias 'Zanka' Jørgensen after 15 minutes and made it 2-0 with about half an hour played when Benjamin Pavard headed home after a corner.
Lewandowski got on the scoresheet in the 43th minute, when he finished off a nice team move to make it 3-0.
After the break, Bayern picked up where they left off and increased the lead to 4-0 with 50 minutes played as Lewandowski backheeled the ball through the legs of Fortuna goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier to score his 29th league goal of the season.
Two minutes later, Alphonso Davies dribbled his way through the Fortuna defence and sent the ball past Kastenmeier for the final goal of a very one-sided match.
With the win, Bayern increased their lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund to 10 points before 'Die Schwarzgelben' face bottom side Paderborn on Sunday.
Fortuna sit 16th, two points ahead of 17th-played Werder Bremen, who have a game in hand.
