Florian Neuhaus claims he could have joined Bayern as a youth player
Florian Neuhaus claims he turned down interest from Bayern München when he was younger.
Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus reveals that Bayern München wanted him when he was a youngster.
At the time, Neuhaus had just agreed to join Bayern's local rivals 1860 München, so he stayed faithful to them.
"Yes, that was indeed the case," Neuhaus told Bild when asked if the rumors that Bayern wanted him in the past are true.
"When I agreed to join 1860 München's under-11 team, Bayern came asking for me a week later," he added.
On Saturday, Neuhaus and Gladbach face Bayern at Allianz Arena, and the midfielder is looking forward to the encounter.
"To play against Bayern has always been something very special, especially in my time as a youngster. Now, as a professional, it's special they're the measure of all things from a sporting perspective," he said.
