Rudi Völler: Bayer Leverkusen deserve to win a title

"Bayer and everyone at the club deserve to win a title after all the good work we've done in the past years," says Leverkusen boss Rudi Völler.
Bayer Leverkusen 'deserve' to win a title, says club boss Rudi Völler ahead of Saturday's DFB-Pokal final against Bayern München in Berlin.

Völler is aware that it will be difficult to defeat the reigning champions, but it's not impossible to beat them, as Leverkusen showed earlier this season when they won 2-1 at Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga.

"Bayern may have won the Bundesliga title eight times in a row, but they haven't done the same in the cup," Völler told Sport Bild and added:

"You can't beat them over a whole season. They have the best team in Europe right now. But when it's just one game, you have the chance to win against them. That is our goal. To do so we have to be in top shape from back to front.

"Bayer and everyone at the club deserve to win a title after all the good work we've done in the past years."

Leverkusen are also in the mix to win the Europa League, which is set to resume in August.

"We can win the Europa League title as well, and it's our goal to do so," said Völler.
