Mats Hummels delighted that Jadon Sancho is set to stay at Dortmund

Mats Hummels has hailed Jadon Sancho's importance to Borussia Dortmund following the announcement that the 20-year-old will be staying for the upcoming season.
Mats Hummels is pleased with the announcement that Jadon Sancho will stay at Borussia Dortmund for the upcoming season.

Much to the delight of Hummels, BVB sporting director Michael Zorc made it clear on Monday that Sancho will definitely remain at Signal Iduna Park this summer despite reports linking him with Manchester United.

"Everyone is very positive about it. We don't have to discuss the fact that he's an outstanding footballer. Jadon is still young, but he can be an absolute difference maker. His potential is relatively unlimited. If he wants to continue showing that here for a year or more, I'm naturally very happy about it," the centre-back told reporters.

Hummels, who is working on his recovery from a foot injury, also gave an update on his fitness.

"It felt good to put on my boots for the first time in six weeks. You always need a bit of time to adjust after a foot injury. But I'm on a good path," Hummels said and added:

"I feel really good. Without the foot injury, I would have been in almost perfect physical condition. I was fit the whole last season and lived up to the expectations placed in me. Of course I want to confirm that next season."
