After having spent the last five seasons at Eintracht Frankfurt, Mijat Gacinovic joined Hoffenheim earlier this month as part of a swap deal, which saw Steven Zuber move in the opposite direction.

In an interview with Kicker, the Serbian midfielder has outlined the reasons behind his decision to come to to Rhein-Neckar Arena.

"It was time for the next step. I just wanted to try something new after five years at Frankfurt. I've come here to become a better player. In some areas, I have been stagnant lately. I need to improve my efficiency, to score and set up more goals and become more safe on the ball," Gacinovic said and added:

"Even though I was quite successful with Eintracht against TSG, I noticed that they always played attractive, offensive and awesome football. That's why I have always liked TSG. I have the feeling that this is a good fit for me and the way I play.

"That Hoffenheim qualified for the Europa League and will play more games as a result thereof was also a reason for me to come. In addition, they have been in the top third of the table almost all the time these last few years."

Gacinovic scored 10 goals and made 18 assists in 157 appearances for Frankfurt.
