Matchday 18 – team of the week (4-1-2-1-2 wide):

Goalkeeper: Jiri Pavlenka, Werder Bremen
The Werder Bremen goalkeeper made several great saves as his side drew with Hoffenheim. Arguably made one of the best saves of the season as he kept out Andrej Kramarics shot from close range.

Right-back: Lukasz Piszczek, Borussia Dortmund
The Polish defender returned to Bundesliga action from an injury break with a strong display. Contributed well to the attacking play and always looked calm and safe.

Centre-back: Benjamin Hübner, Hoffenheim
Convincing defensive display from the centre-back who also got himself a goal.

Centre-back: Timo Baumgartl, Stuttgart
Did very well in Holger Badstuber's absence and kept Hertha's chances to the minimum as Stuttgart kept a clean sheet.

Left-back: William, Wolfsburg
The Brazilian was very active in Wolfsburg's left-side as he was always ready to help the offense, but never let his teammates down in the defense.

Defensive midfielder: Javi Martinez, Bayern München
Was a huge physical presence in the centre of the park. Won nearly every duel in the air and got in the way of much.

Right midfielder: Koo Ja-cheol, Augsburg
Played well on the right side and got himself his first goal of the season with a powerful header.

Left midfielder: Bruma, RB Leipzig
A constant threat on RB Leipzig's left side and also got himself a goal.

Offensive midfielder: James Rodriguez, Bayern München
One of the Colombian's best matches in a Bayern shirt so far. Was behind the assist for Franck Ribery's goal and showed a touch of world-class as he sent a free-kick into the back of the net.

Striker: Niclas Füllkrug, Hannover 96
What a day for the Hannover 96 striker! Got himself a hattrick as Hannover 96 went from being 0-2 down against Mainz to winning 3-2.

Striker: Timo Werner, RB Leipzig
The German international only played 27 minutes, but he made the difference when he was sent on the pitch against Schalke. He made it 2-1 and was behind the assist for Bruma's 3-1 goal.
