Julian Nagelsmann: Dayot Upamecano will stay for the season
Dayot Upamecano will definitely be staying at RB Leipzig for the upcoming season, says head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann says he is sure that Dayot Upamecano will stay for the upcoming season.
Even though he extended his contract with RB Leipzig at the end of July, Upamecano has continually been linked with a move away from Red Bull Arena, particularly following his impressive performances in the Champions League final tournament in Lisbon.
Nagelsmann, however, feels certain that the centre-back will not be going anywhere at this point.
"He will be here for the season. I'm sure about that," Nagelsmann told ESPN and continued:
"As for the future, I'm not sure as he is very talented. Lots of club will want to buy - perhaps next season it could be real that he leaves the club. But this season he will stay."
The 21-year-old, who recently made his debut for France, has played 113 games for RB Leipzig, racking up three goals and two assists.
