Bayern München have suffered an injury blow ahead of their Bundesliga opener against Schalke 04 at Allianz Arena on Friday, according to Sky Germany.

The German media outlet reports that David Alaba is set to miss the game due to muscular problems.

With the 28-year-old ruled out, Lucas Hernandez or Jerome Boateng could start alongside Niklas Süle in central defence.

Bayern will also have to managed without the injured Tanguy Nianzou Kouassi while Kingsley Coman is set to miss out as well, having spent the week in isolation after being in contact with a person infected with the coronavirus.
